72 Hours Of Industrial Los Angeles

I spent another weekend in LA at Das Bunker, The Dungeon and the Industrial Music Festival. I had a lot of fun, met some great people, made the rounds recruiting hacker types (They're easy to cold read by obvious signs like techie T-shirts.)

Combichrist was particularly awesome as the headlining finisher at the Fest. They have a good thing going with their irresistable crack house beats and call response lyrics. Nothing hypes a crowd like a deafening chrous shout of "THIS SHIT WILL FUCK YOU UP!" I'm going to take note of this in my own songwriting. While I prefer more intricate and intellectually explicit lyrics, having repetitive and satisfying battle cry-like phrases is a great way to whip a crowd into a frenzy.

The most fucked up thing that happened didn't happen in a club however. I was walking home from a cafe after the Dungeon called Nova Express that was dedicated to the alien intelligence of Cthuluh. One of the girls I was with was in one of those very short schoolgirl skirts and looking very fetching. I was wearing my STUs (SWAT Tactical Uniform) and tactical vest when I come around a corner on the street and see a guy naked from the waist down jerking off next to his car getting off looking at the girl. He turns and sees me, and before you can say "You're under arrest!" he has already jumped out of his skin and driven away in terror, assuming I was LAPD or something.
